Unfortunately this year was an intensified continuation of what was happening in 2020. My anxiety levels were as high as never before seen. By being in quarantine It was inevitable, to look inside and reflect about yourself, life and the existence. "Dois mil e vinte e dois patinhos tristes na lagoa refletindo sobre a vida" was my 2022 calendar's theme. The idea came from the threshold between sadness and humor, fissure where I love to find my job. Let me explain the dad joke, twenty two is commonly called during a Brazilian bingo game as two little ducks on a lagoon.
"A Pigeon sat on a branch reflecting on existence" from Roy Andersson. The movie is melancholy, desaturated and embarrassingly human. I painted 12 little ducks in acrylic on paper (21x21cm) in many different situations, whether drinking a beer with a friend or looking in the mirror thinking what the hell am I doing with my life. Each illustration comes with a quote from some game, book or film I've watched in 2021, denoting their reflections.
