“Tudo o que poderia ser ou ter sido” são retratos de pessoas chorando que estabelecem uma conversa com a potencialidade, o poder não exercido e o especial não reconhecido. Cada retrato é acompanhado por um objeto que carrega em si uma possibilidade de existência — a ostra que contém a pérola, a esfera que pode quintuplicar de tamanho. A pergunta que move esse conjunto de pinturas está na condicional: “e se fosse daquele jeito?”, “e se eu fosse mais eu?”, “e se eu tivesse escolhido outra opção?” — e na paralisia que essas perguntas podem provocar. Cada retrato traz também um texto conceitual sobre a possibilidade e a potência desse objeto. Através dessa reflexão, buscou-se exercitar e fortalecer a crença em si mesmo.
“Everything That Could Be or Could Have Been” is a series of portraits of people crying that opens a conversation about potential, unrealized power, and unrecognized uniqueness. Each portrait is accompanied by an object that holds a possibility of existence — the oyster that contains the pearl, the sphere that can expand fivefold. The driving question behind this body of work lies in the conditional: “what if it had been that way?”, “what if I were more myself?”, “what if I had chosen differently?” — and in the paralysis these questions can bring. Each portrait is also paired with a conceptual text reflecting on the possibility and potential of the object. Through this reflection, the work seeks to exercise and strengthen belief in oneself.
